INVITATION:

The Lake Macbride Sailing Club would like to extend an invitation to the public to contact us for information about sailing with our club or to join us for any of our events. Participation in racing events is limited to members with MC class boats, but we would be happy to have you spectate from our club motorboat during our series races or regattas. Or, if you would like an opportunity to actually go sailing with us on one of our boats, contact John Spargo to schedule an introductory ride. Sailing is a great outdoor activity for all ages and experience levels and we would love to include you in our group.

LOCATION:

Our racing is conducted on the north arm of Lake Macbride, conveniently located between Cedar Rapids and Iowa City. Lake Macbride is a no-wake lake, providing an ideal environment for sailboats. During the season sailboats can be stored rigged and ready to go in a secure fenced-in area near the lake. Locker service is also provided.

SAILING INSTRUCTION:

For new owners of MC's, the members of the MC Fleet will help you to learn to sail. We occasionally conduct off-water instruction throughout the year, consisting of discussion of the three primary areas of skills involved in yacht racing, i.e., techniques, tactics and strategy. In addition, we regularly conduct on-the-water drills, practice and critique. 

RACING PROGRAM:

We hold a series of races during the season. We conduct races during May, June, July, August, and September, with races held every Saturday afternoon. Pre-season racing for practice is held during early May, with post-season fun in late September. Therefore, those who are interested may race almost every weekend from early May through mid-October.
In addition, occasionally we conduct regattas on Lake Macbride in which out-of-town sailors participate. Also, sailors from our fleet occasionally attend national-level events on other lakes. The Lake Macbride Sailing Club MC Fleet is Sanctioned Fleet #43 of the MC Sailing Association.

SOCIAL EVENTS: 

Activities include getting together after races to discuss events of the day and to make excuses where necessary. We also enjoy family parties, as well as our annual spring and fall banquets.
